India-EU: Sixth Dialogue on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Advice • The sixth round of talks between India and the European Union (EU) was held to discuss disarmament and non-proliferation. All partners discussed the exchange of information on developments in the field of chemical, nuclear and biological disarmament. They also discussed outer space security, conventional weapons and non-proliferation. India - European Union Trade: The European Union is India's largest trading partner. • As of 2016, the European Union accounted for 12.5% of India's total trade. India is the ninth largest trading partner of the European Union. India's major exports to the European Union are pharmaceuticals, engineering goods, gems and jewellery. Relations between India and the European Union have been defined since the European Union India Co-operation Agreement, 1994. The two partners have been negotiating free trade deals since 2007 and have not yet reached a conclusion. India's Disarmament Policy • India adopted the 'Nuclear Principle' in 2003, under which India demonstrated its commitment to a nuclear-free world.
